Flames, Turbulence, Explosions

Flames and related hydrodynamic phenomena are well-known in many physical processes from industrial energy production to stars and Supernovae. The most important applications of combustion are car engines and gas turbines. We work mostly on hydrodynamic aspects of combustion and focus on flame instabilities and flame interaction with the gas flow, turbulent or laminar. The instabilities and turbulence make a flame front corrugated, thus increasing greatly the flame speed and the rate of energy production. - More information
